It makes for a great work afternoon when you find a spot that feels like a home office five minutes after you walk through the door. Yesterday, we needed a place to collaborate for a work afternoon, and we found that spot at Seattle Beer Co. tucked away near the Seattle waterfront. Seattle Beer Co. has that rare mix of a curated tap list and an atmosphere that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.

Of course, the vibe of a place is usually dictated by the person holding the tap handles. Enter Bo, the bartender who knows the list like the back of his hand and treats every taste and pour with the respect it deserves. Friendly, fast, and ready with a recommendation when you’re staring at the board with “analysis paralysis,” Bo made sure the glasses stayed full and the conversation stayed easy.

Here’s the craft beer tasting rundown of what we moved through during our session:
Maritime Pacific Brewing Imperial IPA

Maritime Pacific Brewing is a Seattle staple, and their DIPA (or Imperial Pale Ale as they often label it) is a “big” beer in every sense. At 7.5% ABV, it brings a heavy hit of Cascade hops that lean into citrus and pine. It’s got a solid malt backbone to hold up all that hop weight, making it dangerously smooth for a double.
Four Generals Brewing Winter Bock

As we transitioned into something heartier, the Winter Bock from Four Generals hit the table. This is a “meal in a glass” kind of brew. It’s rich, malty, and brings those deep toffee and caramel notes that help get through a conference call meeting. It’s got a ton of flavor and a clean finish, exactly what a German-style bock should be.
Obec Brewing Czech Pils

We needed to get some work done on some contracts, so we downshifted a little to the Obec Czech Pils. This is their flagship craft beer for a reason. It pours a beautiful golden hue with that signature crispness you want in a pilsner. It balances a rich, malty palate with just enough spicy bitterness from the Czech hops to keep it interesting. It’s clean, traditional, and the perfect “calibration” beer for the palate.
7 Seas Brewing Rude Parrot IPA

We finished strong with the Rude Parrot from 7 Seas Brewing. This one is aggressively hopped, leaning heavily into tropical fruit and citrus aromas. It’s got a bit of an “electric” personality, bitter in all the right ways with a dry finish that leaves you wanting another sip. If you like your Northwest IPAs to have some teeth, this is your bird.
Adding Seattle Beer Co to Our Seattle Work Afternoon Rotation
Seattle Beer Co. will be a highlight for anyone looking to see what the PNW is currently brewing. Between the quality of the pours and the top-tier service from Bo, it was an afternoon well spent and we will be back for more craft beer tasting.
