There’s something about a Wednesday night that hits different when you find the right spot. Last Wednesday, Wee swung by Big Time Brewery & Public House, right at the end of Trivia Night, and honestly, the energy was exactly what we needed.
Despite the competitive whispers and the frantic Googling (we see you!), the atmosphere was incredibly chill and inviting. It’s one of those rare spots that manages to feel like a massive, high-energy hall and a cozy neighborhood local all at once.
Craft Beer of Choice: Squirrel Tracer IPA (because we liked the name)
Brady and I bellied up to the bar, traded some banter with the beer tenders while looking at the chalk board list of craft beer they have on tap. Eventually, we determined we had to have a pint of Squirrel Tracer IPA not just because it is an IPA, but because, if you give your beer a good name, it must be good right? We were satisfied by the quality of the Squirrel Tracer, so if you haven’t tried this one yet, and you like hazy IPA, put it on your list.
Here’s the breakdown:
- The Look: Pours a hazy, glowing apricot color with a thick, frothy head.
- The Nose: Immediate hits of bright citrus zest and a hint of pine needle.
- The Taste: It’s a “hop-forward” masterpiece but stays surprisingly smooth. You get big notes of grapefruit and mango, finishing with a crisp, resinous bite that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
- The Verdict: At 6.8% ABV, it’s punchy enough to keep things interesting but balanced enough to pair perfectly with a long night of trivia questions.
The Big Time Brewery Scene

Big Time Brewery is a nice place to hang out, the woodwork around the bar and the general living room feel of the environment along with the young college vibe is great. So whether you’re in Seattle visiting UW and need a place for food or drinks, or just looking for good craft pours in the U district, this place just feels right.
