Before the massive Silver City production brewery in Bremerton became a Pacific Northwest icon, it all started in 1996 in a cozy, vibrant space in Silverdale. While the brewing operations moved to a larger facility years ago, the Silver City Restaurant & Ale House remains the spiritual home and the original heart of the brand.
If you’re heading to the Kitsap Peninsula, here is why the Silverdale flagship is still a mandatory stop.
The Original Flagship: Silver City Restaurant & Ale House
While the Bremerton taproom is great for a quick pint, the Silverdale location is a full-scale culinary and craft beer destination. Silver City Restaurant & Ale House is the “family-friendly” alternative to the production facility, offering a massive menu and a more extensive tap list that includes pub-exclusive experimental brews.
A New Chapter
It’s an exciting time for the brand. In June 2025, Silver City Brewery was acquired by Ackley Brands, a Seattle-based family company. This move has infused new energy into the legacy brand, ensuring that the Silverdale restaurant remains a staple for the next 30 years while allowing for even more “innovation and small-batch experimentation” that fans are seeing on the taps this season.
What’s on Tap at Silver City
The Silverdale Ale House is the best place to find the full spectrum of their lineup, from the easy-drinking flagships to the heavy hitters.
- Tropic Haze (6.4% ABV): The local legend. This hazy IPA is essentially the unofficial beer of Kitsap County. It’s tropical, smooth, and famously consistent.
- The Magnificent Scotch Ale (9.2% ABV): A multi-award winner. If you like notes of peat smoke, dark cherries, and toffee, this is your beer.
- Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager: Though it’s a summer staple, keep an eye out for their Dark Lager variants that often take over the “Ziggy” slot during the winter months.
More Than Just Beer: The Ale House Kitchen
The Silverdale location is famous for its “elevated pub grub” food. It’s a massive space that manages to feel like a neighborhood local.
- The Pizzas: Hand-stretched and fired, their pizzas (like the Ridgetop Red BBQ Chicken) are legendary in the community.
- House Specialties: Don’t sleep on the Fish & Chips made with a Silver City beer batter, or their signature burgers that pair perfectly with a snifter of Scotch Ale.
- The Speakeasy Vibe: The bar area retains that classic, wood-heavy PNW brewery aesthetic that makes it the perfect place to hide out from the winter weather.

Events: Look out for community engagement, including the annual Kitsap Humane Society Beer Launch and frequent “Brewer’s Nights” where you can meet the team behind the lagers.
Silverdale vs. Bremerton: Remember, the Silverdale location is a full-service restaurant (all ages welcome). The Bremerton location is the production brewery taproom (21+ and snacks only).
Happy Hour: They offer one of the best Happy Hours in Kitsap, typically running Monday–Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
